The surfers are pretty much happy the things are, but the road atop the cliff needs to be re-engineered to control rainwater runoff and erosion of the bluff. The dirt road could then be stabilized using a 'dirt glue' or 'polypavement.'

The team from the Pu'u Kukuki Watershed Preserve recommends that the road be moved over slightly from the edge of the
cliff. The surfers could do minimal improvements to the trails to help with erosion and are already planting some native plants.
The surfers access area could be under the umbrella of an organization such as Maui Coastal Land Trust, and be managed by a stewardship program.
